Liberty Health EMS Facility
Liberty Health is relocating its emergency response vehicles and staff to a new facility in Jersey City, NJ. The existing 19,000 square foot facility is currently 2-stories of warehouse space. The spaces will service all of the hospital's ambulances in addition to offices for approximately (50) administrative staff.
Challenges:
- Achieve zone temperature control for multiple spaces under a tight budget.
- Convert existing warehouse with minimal services to a 24/7 EMS facility while
trying to maintain a tight budget.
Achievements: Since a VAV system would put the project over budget, a constant volume system with rooftop unit was designed for all administrative spaces. Multiple space sensors were strategically located to provide an average space temperature setting, therefore allowing each zone to have input to the cooling system. Even though this is a gut renovation, the existing building distribution systems were extensively surveyed to identify areas for cost savings. As a result, a considerable amount of existing distribution systems were re-used including 90% of the sprinkler system, 90% of the gas system and 75% of the steam system.
